642 Things to Write About Challenge: Week 23

Well, this was an easy one this week.  I’ll give a longer update later, but I really wanted to make sure that I had the chance while it was quiet in this hospital waiting room to do a challenge topic for this week.

“Write about what you are worrying about right now.”

I write this from the family waiting room of the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY.  My grandpa isn’t doing well and I’m worried.  Actually, I’m beyond worried.  I’m terrified.  I’m worried that he won’t “get better” this time.  I’m worried about my grandma.  Today is her 83rd birthday and she hasn’t leave his bedside since they arrived at the hospital on Tuesday morning.  Seriously.  She’s so dedicated to my wonderful grandpa that before we got her out for a mere hour yesterday (Saturday), she was wearing the same clothes that she arrived in on Tuesday, which also happened to be their 58th wedding anniversary.

What a fucking week.

I’m so worried about my family.  Everyone has been at the hospital from morning until night, choking back emotions and barely sleeping.  I know that we’re not the first or last family to go through this, but at the end of the day, this is my grandpa and my family and I’ve never been more worried about them in my entire life.

I promise to have a better topic next week.  I’m just so tired and drained right now that I can’t think of anything other than this shit.  What’s worrying you?
