Favorite Beers by State

This map has been making the rounds over the Internet the past few days, but I only just saw it today.  A company called Blowfish, which promotes their own a “hangover cure,” teamed up with third-party research firm AMP to study people’s drinking habits across the United States.  They surveyed 5,249 drinkers over the page of 21 from all 50 states and Washington, D.C.  The results are below.  The first one is a map of favorite beers by state and the second one compiles the other results all together, including things like what beer is preferred by political party and alcohol preferences broken up by sexes.  For the big map of beer by state, participants were given a list of 18 brews – with a write-in option – to choose from.

I like craft brews and the Sam Adams Seasonals the best, but this is super interesting.  Of course, it wasn’t a huge sample size, so take it with a grain of salt, but it’s still interesting nonetheless.  And even though it’s only 10:30 a.m. right now, I could totally go for a Blue Moon after reading all of these results, haha.  Click to enlarge:

The second map is after the jump.  It’s got a lot of interesting facts.

Oh and P.S. – If you go to the original website, you can hover your mouse over each state and get additional fun facts, which I did for New York and North Carolina.  There’s a lot of similarities between both states, which I’m guessing may have something to do with the fact that there’s a lot of transplanted Northerns down here…
