I cannot believe that it’s April 9 already. It feels like just yesterday I was writing that post about what to give up for Lent and now Lent is already over. I hope everyone had a nice Easter!
Jay & I went home to see my family on Long Island for Easter this year. It was a really nice weekend. We left on Friday afternoon and after only a total of a two hour delay leaving RDU for JFK (One of these days, I want to know what it when it means we’re waiting for the “captain’s approval” for an hour and a half in order to board the plane). But at least we had a flight that ended up where it was supposed to end up on the same day it was supposed to end up there.
After we got into JFK, we went to dinner at Pasteria, a local Italian restaurant in Syosset, with my parents and grandparents. It was delicious. I miss my old restaurants on Long Island. After we got back to my parents’ house, my sister gave me her awesome gift. [P.S. I did post a link to the Pinterest post that she got the idea to make those from in the comments section of my last post, but here it is if you didn’t see it: http://www.arrowandapple.com/blog/2010/6/10/weekend-diy.html]
On Saturday, Jay & I headed out to the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, NY with my dad to get new running/walking shoes for me and a new shirt for Jay from my parents for his birthday. I found these awesome New Balance shoes that were highlighter neon yellow. I wanted them soooo badly but they didn’t have them in my size. Boo! I checked Amazon and they were listed as “unavailable” there with my size, as well. Double boo. After we went for a short hike with my dad up Bald Hill, one of the higher points on Long Island. It was there that I got a picture for my Photo-a-Day April challenge of “Shadow.” We finished out Saturday by picking up some really pretty tulips for my mom and grandma for Easter.
For dinner on Saturday night, we had some awesome homemade hamburgers, grilled chicken, broccoli, perogies, etc. I must admit that it was delicious and I ate way too much at the same time. We ended the night by watching Psych reruns on Ion. I love that station because there’s nothing more awesome than syndication at the gym, haha.
On Sunday, we went to mass for Easter and then headed to my grandparents’ house. It was as wonderful as always. I miss dinners and just generally hanging out at my grandparents’ house. I love it there and I love my grandparents so much. As we were waiting to go to the airport, the movie Se7en was on. Jay’s never seen it, but he watched the very end of it because thanks to Lost season 5, he kept hearing me whine in my best Brad Pitt voice, “What’s in the booooxx?!” and wanted to know what that line was all about. Now we need to watch the movie from the beginning, lol.
We were way late getting to the airport on Sunday night thanks to traffic and arrived only 35 minutes before our flight was scheduled to take off. I was never really worried, however, because my track record mandates that I’m never going to leave NYC on a flight that leaves on time. I was right; we left an hour late from LaGuardia on Easter.
We did get home safe and sound around 11:00pm and were ready to start another week. It’s been a bit of a rough week as of today (Wednesday), but we’re getting by. Keep on keepin’ on, right? Hope everyone out there had a great Easter – and if you don’t celebrate Easter, a great weekend!
