Jay & Jack and Bobby Moynihan

Guys! On Monday night, Jay and Jack recorded a podcast with Bobby Moynihan aka Drunk Uncle from Saturday Night Live. He’s a big LOST fan! On the podcast, which is a part of their 10th-anniversary retrospective, they talk about Bobby’s top five favorite LOST moments, and more. It’s really fun. If you are subscribed to the LOST Podcast feed, it’s on there. Plus+ members had access to it early, so it’s also on that feed. 🙂 Here is the link to their website: http://www.jayandjack.com/2015/08/11/lost-podcast-mp3-ep-7-12-bobby-loves-lost/

P.S. Joe Matero, if you are reading this…Bobby sounds exactly like you when he talks on the podcast! I miss your face, my dear old friend.

The Adventures of Zach & Zoe: Part 14

Reunited after eight days apart. One of them is excited, the other is just really desperate for attention. You can decide which one is which.

Jay & Jack’s 9th Annual Comic-Con Panel

Woo-hoo! If you’re going to San Diego Comic-Con this year and you’re into TV shows such as LostGame of Thrones, and The Leftovers, then you definitely want to check out “Lost Podcast and Beyond” with Jay & Jack. This year, they will have special guests Kris White (The Official Lost Podcast) and Nick Dunn (Game of Thrones with Jay, Jack & Nick).

This year, the panel is at the new library. Hopefully, that won’t deter anyone from showing up. It’s going to be awesome. Plus, it will be Zachary’s first time watching Jay & Jack do a Comic-Con panel. Yay, awesomeness. Getting excited!

love always wins

Regardless of “recent” blog posts, I have still been struggling to find my creativity. I made some steps towards doing that today. I was curious to see if there were any good t-shirts on the Internet yet that honored Friday’s Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.  I couldn’t find anything that I liked, so I decided to create my own. I was inspired by several different image searches, but did create this one myself this afternoon via Pages and Paint X Lite.

It’s primative. I don’t claim to be artistically inclined in any manner whatsoever. Here’s what I came up with. I ordered it this evening. I hope it gets here in time for San Diego Comic-Con. I also hope this is the start of my creativity coming back. Fingers crossed.

It is so ordered.

I can’t say anything more eloquent than these words.

In a time when there are some very bad, hateful things happening in this country, it’s nice to get a win for love and equality. There is hope for us yet.

Where Have I Been?

So, I went and disappeared again for a while. I didn’t do it intentionally. I’ve just been busy. About six months ago, I started doing some part-time freelance work. It was mostly manageable stuff, but I wasn’t making money as fast as I was hoping. Then, about six weeks ago, just as I was thinking I should try to find something else, I took an assignment from someone who was looking to give writers more regular work. And, suddenly, I was swamped. It was great, but definitely no longer a part-time job. I’ve been spending hours doing it on the weekend and working until 12:30 or 1:30am. On some days, I got up at 4 a.m. to work on it. But most days, I go to bed at 1 and get up when Zach wakes up between 5 and 6 a.m. This was while still working my busy day job. Needless to say, I’m a little bit exhausted right now. However, I can’t complain because I asked for it, haha, and I’m forever grateful to how good God is to me. I now have more respect than ever before for men and women who work two or three jobs to support their families.

Anyway, I let myself get too wrapped up in doing this stuff, and haven’t been taking very good care of myself. Aside from the not sleeping, I’ve been eating like shit and since I’ve been staying up so late, I’ve been guilty on several nights of having a night cap when I know I have about 30 minutes left and want to make sure I’m “relaxed” enough to fall asleep. I’ve gained some weight and been sick on and off. I’ve exercised five times in the last six weeks. I’m mentally and physically exhausted all of the time. I’m just very unhealthy right now.

So, that’s where I’ve been. I’ve been busying working and not taking care of myself at all. If you’re reading this and you work multiple jobs at once that add up to more than 40 hours a week, then you are my hero. I have the utmost respect for how amazing you are.

As for me, I’m taking a little break for the next week so I can prepare for Zach’s birthday and write some sappy blog posts about that. Stay tuned!

sixty.

Today is my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary.

I always remember something that my aunt said to me in the stairwell of the hospital as we were leaving after he passed. I can’t remember the reason, but it was just the two of us who decided to take the stairs. Everyone else (I think) went in the elevator. Anyway, we were in the stairwell and she sobbed, “I always pictured that Grandma and Grandpa would be that little old couple together in their 90s, celebrating anniversaries.”

We’ll always celebrate their anniversary. Happy sixtieth, Rosie & Louie. Your love has inspired all of us to do better. I love you more.

8 and 4

Today, Jay and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary and eight years from the day that we first met outside of the Pour House in Moore Square, Raleigh, NC. I have a shitty memory when it comes to events (I’m AMAZING at birthdays, phone numbers, and names), but I remember the events of April 27-29 like they were yesterday. Jay almost didn’t even meet me because he wanted to sleep in and lounge around. I am so happy that he did.

Happy eight years and happy four years, my love.
